Glucosamine is a supplement that falls under the category of amino sugar. Amino sugars are taken into tissue structures, not like other types of sugar that are used by the body as a source of energy. Glucosamine changes in the body from the simple carbohydrate Glucose and the amino acid Glutamine. Glucosamine is present in skin, tendons, bones, skin, eyes, nails and heart valves.
Glucosamine also works in the production of mucous to assist the urinary tracts and digestive and respiratory systems. Glucosamine Sulfate Glucosamine Sulfate (GS) is sodium-free and stabilized with Potassium Chloride (KCI) only. Sulfur is also used in producing cartilage tissue.
